Slow and steady…a bit too slow though

Been trying to get my business running for quite sometime. But something or the other just keeps coming up. It is annoying me, but also pushing me to work harder towards my dream goal of running a successful photography business.

The main thing that is stopping me (to a certain extent) is the capital required. For that I had to start a part time job. A call center with a decent pay but crappy hours. Crappy in the sense, they’re extremely flexible when giving the hours (which is a good thing) but mostly end up cutting the shifts when there aren’t as many calls being diverted from the internal optus call center.

Since I needed a steady pay and not keep guessing if I’m going to be getting enough money every fortnight that I can actually set aside the target amount for ‘Hasan Ibrahim Photography’, I have now been forced to start another job.

It’s a courier job. It isn’t as bad as it sounds. In fact it’s pretty good. A friend offered me to use his van (which he isn’t using at the moment) and I get paid more than I get paid at the call center and it’s only on weekends, for now. The only restriction I have with this job is that I have a back disc problem and courier jobs require lifting stuff so can’t really exert my back too much.

I’m just trying it out for now. If it goes well, I might quit the call center job since I’m not getting much out of it anyway.  Haven’t got my first pay check from the courier job so really can’t make a decision right now. These two jobs and also me being a full-time university student have left me with no time whatsoever for anything else.

Because of all this, my photography business has turned into a dream, yet again, for now. Photography was the reason why I started working, and now, due to work, I’m forced to let go of photography all together for sometime.

Ironic isn’t it?
